ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A valid passport is required for entry.

240v. Plugs are usually English standad.

TRANSPORT
Taxis are reasonably priced. There is
also a collective taxi system, using
minibuses and large estate vehicles. Bus
departures are frequent between towns
during the day. However, departure times
are not fixed. Public transport service
is less frequent after 5pm and during
the weekend.

SHOPPING
Popular souvenirs include copper,
silver, gold, bronze, onyx objects,
Turkish dolls, merchaum, pipes and tavla
boards. Jewellery, leather, clothes and
textiles can be purchased at low prices.
Shop opening times: between 9am and 1pm
and 3pm to 8pm.Exports of antiquities is
illegal.

CURRENCY
The Turkish Lira
(TL)
is the currency used in Northern Cyprus.
Foreign currencies and travellers
cheques are accepted
in banks, hotels and
exchange offices. Most credit cards are
valid in many places and it is possible
to withdraw money using ATM cards.

HOTELS AND VILLAS
Most
of the tourist places are currently
centred around Kyrenia and Famagusta but
the magnificent Karpaz peninsular is due
to be developed. There are five, four
and three star hotels in the city’s
tourist areas. Flats and international
villas can be found at the seaside or
typically Cypriot villages.

CAR RENTAL
Prices are excellent. You can hire a car
with your licence. Driving is on the
left and the wearing of seatbelts id
compulsory. All signposts are
international and the roads are
generally in a good state.
